Many women feel intimidated riding with men, who are often stronger, faster and more competitive in their riding. So women get left behind, and end up riding on their own. Joining a group like Cadence Women will give you someone to ride with, teach you bunch riding skills, and keep you safer on the road. Cadence Women is a training group for female cyclists wanting to improve their skills and fitness. It is also a social occasion, with coffee and chat at the end of the ride. Cadence Women welcomes women of all ages and abilities, on either road bikes or hybrids (not suitable for mountain bikes). We range from 26 yrs through to late 50s and beyond. We ride in small groups according to skill level. New members are mentored and guided by an experienced rider. We are easily visible in our brightly coloured team jerseys and knicks. These carry our sponsors’ logos, and are available to all group members at a very reasonable cost. We also promote the message “Share the Road” by displaying it on the back of our jerseys. So it is very important for all Cadence riders to be aware of, and adhere to, the road laws. You will need to have either a current Recreational Licence or current Bicycle Victoria membership to ride with Cadence Women. This covers you for personal accident insurance, public liability, etc. You can get a Recreational Licence through CycloSportif Victoria. Click here to download a 2009 Membership Form. When asked for your club, write Cyclosportif Victoria. You are welcome to join us at any time once you have applied for your Recreational Licence or Bicycle Victoria Membership. We leave at 8 am every Saturday morning from Seaford railway station car park (beach side). |
